The Year of 2007
Here’s a look at the year for this blog. This has been the first year when I have actually blogged regularly (or relatively so) through out the year. Here are some of the notable points for this blog:
- Since the beginning of the year, there have been approximately 20000 page views on this blog (not a large number when you think about it, but still very large for me). And the good thing is that all these visits do not include visits from my computer because I filter those out.
- The blog has been monetized to an extent and has made me enough to pay for my hosting, domain name, and a little extra which I am going to use to start another blog.
- Over 150 posts have been made on the blog during this year and a little under 200 comments have been received.
- Akismet has stopped around 8000 Spam comments during this time.
- Google is responsible for sending 50% of the traffic that comes to this blog.
- The Google page rank of the blog rose from nothing to 3.
- The Alexa rank has risen from above 4,000,000 to below 400,000.
Next year’s resolution is to produce more consistent content and try to focus the blog a bit to talk about some major topics (or I may keep it personal as it is now, and spin off more blogs for niche topics).
Here’s wishing all readers a Happy New Year.

I have one question on Alexa rank. How they actually determine this? Based of traffic and/or popularity? Also who are using the alexa toolbar? I don’t know anyone using this toolbar. But still alexa is very popular. Lots of sites are based on its statistics. Should we really trust on alexa statistics?

Hi Ramesh,
Actually popular consensus is that Alexa rankings are useless as not a lot of people use the Alexa toolbar to give a representative answer.
Alexa uses the statistics gathered by Alexa toolbar users to determine it’s Alexa rank.
However, I like to think that an Alexa rank is still an indicator of site popularity because it still gives the rank amongst people who DO use the Alexa toolbar.
I hope that answered some of your questions.
Cheers.

Hey V,
Love the new reincarnation of the blog and congrats on the new camera.
I also got a great camera the Canon S5 IS and best part is that I got it for free !
My earlier camera broke and Canon decided to replace it instead of repairing it !
