Tenth Blogging Anniversary

I had no idea about how old the term blogging is. I stumbled upon this wall street journal article (of all the places) which is proclaiming this year (2007) as the 10th anniversary of blogging. Hurray for all the bloggers out there, our passion, craft, profession (call it what you may) is now 10 years old. Visit the link to read up on views about blogging from some pretty famous people (who are bloggers themselves).

According to David Sifry, there are 80 million bloggers out there (I wonder if he meant blogs). Why do so many people blog? Why do I blog? Let’s see:

  • I find it a good hobby: to be able to right down things.
  • Just in case my blog entries help someone out.
  • Just in case someone can pass a little time by finding something interesting on my blog.
  • To make enough money to pay for the hosting service that I use to host this blog? (Been trying Google Adsense, but that’s another story)
  • Because it’s interesting and because I can.

Well, to all you bloggers out there, Happy Blogger’s Day (I don’t think there is such a date). And be good blogging (follow the conduct).
