PDF Readers and Outlook 2007 Preview Handler
Last week, I updated my Adobe Acrobat to 8.1 (from 8.0). The moment I did that, it was bye-bye PDFs for me; because all of a sudden every time I opened a PDF file I would get an “Invalid Plugin” error and the program would close. I thought that’s it, no more Adobe for me. I uninstalled the errant software and downloaded and installed FoxIt PDF Reader. I was pretty happy with FoxIt till the following happened:
- I clicked on a PDF link in the browser. Unlike Adobe which opens within the browser (I use Firefox), FoxIt launches its own window. It’s a little annoying.
- I got a PDF attachment in email. I just realized that my PDF Preview Handler for Outlook 2007 was for Adobe Acrobat Reader. Now, there is one available for FoxIt, but it works only on Windows Vista. If you use Windows Vista, get it here. But I use Windows XP, and now I am stuck with having no Preview Handler for PDFs.
Now, I am running here and there trying to locate version 8.0 of Acrobat Reader.
