Outlook Google Calendar Sync

I posted earlier about a tool called SyncMyCal. This is an Outlook Add-In which allows for two-way sync between Google Calendars and Outlook Calendars. I have been using the tool since and have not faced a single issue with it and it just works beautifully; having said that, a lot of people have been having some issue or another (as can be seen on their Blog and Discussion Group).

I suppose that is expected of any new software these days, but where SyncMyCal differentiates itself is that they have made rapid releases to address these issues which has resulted in a lot of bugs being fixed. Here is a list of What’s New. At the same time, they have added new features to the product and also have a long list of planned features in the upcoming releases (on their blog). Here is a representative list of features offered by the tool:

  • Two-way calendar synchronization – Outlook to Google and Google to Outlook
  • Selective event synchronization through date range selection
  • Flexibility of publishing/not publishing private events information in Outlook Calendar to Google Calendar
  • Multiple Google Calendars can be connected to single Outlook Calendar and vice versa
  • Support for Time zone differences in calendars through automatic schedule adjustment
  • Feature for Publishing FREE/BUSY or complete information for events
  • Auto Update Feature – the tool lets you know whenever there is an update available (and they are working on a version, where the tool will also automatically update)

Update: The tool is now a featured project at Google Code here
