Outlook email attachments temp storage
I open attachments directly from my emails all the time (as opposed to copying them locally first and then opening them). Now, it turns out that Outlook first copies the attachments to a local folder and then opens them. Sometimes, you may want to get access to that local folder. Here’s how:
- Open up Registry Editor: Start->Run->regedit.exe
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security: substitute the 12.0 to reflect your version of Office. 2007 = 12.0, 2003 = 11.0, XP = 10.0 (I think).
- Copy the value of the key ‘OutlookSecureTempFolder’. It is a file system path.
- Navigate to this path using the explorer: Start->Run-><paste path here> and press Enter.
Now you are at the folder where attachments are copied before Outlook opens them.
