Office 2007 SP1 Installed and No Big Difference

ms-office-2007 SP1 for Office 2007 is now available for download from Microsoft and I went ahead and installed it. The download speed was a little low because I guess there were many who would be waiting for it to become available.

Well now its installed and rebooted. I will try to see if there are any changes or improvements to my office performance. I haven’t noticed a big change in the Outlook performance. There have been problems when my Outlook hangs momentarily on Send/Receive. I have blogged on how to reduce that problem here. After I installed the SP1, I feel as if there is a fractional improvement although that might be a psychological perception.

If I notice anything big, I will be sure to post about it. You can also visit my tips on how to maximize performance of your Outlook 2007 installation.

  1. Hi Vaibhav,

Here’s a tip I picked up from a site which made a difference on my Outlook 2007 performance. Outlook loads in a few add-ins when it starts up and there are some which we can turn off. To do that, go to Tools - Trust Center - Add-ins . Depending on what software you’ve installed (and use) there will be a few add-ins which you can safely turn off. In my case I disabled the iTunes Outlook add-in (never knew such a thing existed) and a few others. Hope this helps.

  2. Hi Vineet,

Thanks for the tip. Yes, I do disable any extra add-ins for my Outlook. My biggest problem with Outlook is still the fact that it hangs for a few seconds whenever I receive new email. And its got to do primarily with the PST size.

    Cheers.
