Intelligent World Time in Google
I used to have a shortcut on my FireFox tool bar to http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/. The reason I say, ‘used to’ is because now it’s gone.
I recently discovered that Google has a world time feature built into it’s search. I love it. So now if I need to know what time it is in Munich, Germany; I simply type “Time Freiburg” in my FireFox search box which is configured to use Google and press enter. And on top of my search results, I see this:
And, if I type “Delhi Time”, I see this:
It works with names of Country, States, Cities. In fact, a search for USA time gives the following:
However, what is interesting is that it shows a Yellow colored clock when searching for USA and Canada, and a Gray one when I searched others. After a lot of searching, I figured it out. It shows a yellow clock when it’s daylight where you are searching. So, for example, at the time I was doing this, I searched for Perth and Sydney (one is on the western part of Australia, the other eastern) and here are the results:
Since it’s still not daylight yet in Perth, it shows as Gray. I like Google. They keep it simple and smart. I think they are going to become the command line for the Internet.
