Outlook 2007 Freezing Issue
Does your Outlook 2007 freeze for a few seconds whenever it is downloading email from a POP account? Mine does. And it is very irritating.
Ok, one post ago, I mentioned about my goal of reducing my PST size. Now I didn’t know for sure that it will solve my problems with how Outlook freezes for a few seconds when it is downloading the last email. Well, prompted by something someone mentioned, I decided to test out a few things. I created a new PST and configured my POP account to deliver the email to the new PST. Guess what, NO FREEZING. The problem is DEFINITELY due to the size of the PST.
The pity is that I used to have large PSTs all the time while using Outlook 2003. I even had Lookout for Outlook installed. But I never faced this freezing problem then.
Also, as an update after installing the patch from Microsoft, my Outlook overall is performing much better for sure. Now if they only would address this freezing issue. In the meantime, the problem can be handled by having a smaller PST size.

I wish it was just for a few seconds. Since mid-December I have had to reboot countless times from a total freeze. Ctrl-Alt-Delete has no effect. The diagnostics show nothing wrong. No update is available. Might be time for a roll-back.
