I bought a new Camera

40D I recently took interest in photography and went and treated myself to a nice new camera: the Canon EOS 40D. It’s one of the newer offerings out there by Canon and boasts some nice features.

It has a 10.1 mega pixels CMOS sensor. It’s fairly fast with an ability to snap 6.5 frames per sec (which means that under ideal lighting conditions and with a fast enough memory card, I can take 13 snaps in 2 seconds) – this can be handy in a situation when I need to take a picture of a moving subject.

The other goodies that I got with the camera are two lenses: A Canon EF 70-200 f/4.0 L USM telephoto zoom lens as well as a Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM zoom lens. Both lenses were decided after reading detailed reviews and also considering budget needs. Excellent reviews are at: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/

I hope I take a lot of good pictures from this camera and I will post some of them on the blog. Also along the way, I hope to be able to post my learnings and experiments with my new camera for other camera newbies. I know there are a number of sites out there which talk about photography, but I want to add my own perspective (the newbie perspective).
