Habitually Good

This post was a long time coming but I had to make it. I have owned both the games for some time now and I got both of them together (I live in India and so games don’t become available immediately, and since I bought my XBox in the US, I have to buy them in batches whenever someone visits the US). So, as I said I got them together. This post is my first impression of the two games as I started playing them simultaneously. Before I even begin to compare, my conclusion is this: Halo 3, good as it may be, cannot compare to Bioshock (boy, this is sure to inflame some Halo3 fans out there, but remember this is my personal opinion. I am not a casual gamer, but I am no hardcore player either.

As I said, I started playing both the games together. I first played Halo 3 for a day (about 3-4 hours); I even played it in co-op mode and my Wife played with me (and she really liked it, so that is a plus point for Halo 3). However, I found myself getting tired towards the end of the 3-4 hours. It could be that the game is more challenging than Bioshock, but I was getting tired. (I was playing the medium level, as many people said that the easy level was too easy).

The next day I started playing Bioshock and man, is that game engrossing. It may bot require the same amount of skill as Halo 3, but it is very absorbing. I kept playing without knowing what is going on around me. Of course, the Wife Acceptance Factor on this game plummeted, but who cares (hopefully my wife won’t read this).

Overall, I like Bioshock better than Halo 3 because it is more intriguing, has a storyline which keeps you gripped and a nice enough game play to make all of that fun. And it is different from any other game that I have come across (which is more than what can be said for Halo 3). Of course, this means I will be finishing Bioshock before I finish Halo 3.
