Google OpenSocial - bringing social networks together
Well, don’t know about that, however, I can’t help but fall in line with all the Bloggers, and talk about Google OpenSocial.
Google has launched OpenSocial which according to them “provides a common set of APIs for social applications across multiple websites.” Let me try to figure out what this means.
So, if LinkedIn implements this API on their network, and if Orkut implements this on their network, and if Ning implements it on their network, and if I now write and application using the API (a widget or something), then that will work on all the 3 networks without any special customizations. COOL!
Well, this certainly is exciting. At first I thought that OpenSocial is a framework for developing new Social Networks. (for all I know it may be, i just haven’t looked into it deep enough yet).
