Here is a sure shot way to get rid of comment Spam on your blog. Take Google’s help. Recently, my Google Page Rank was dropped from 3 to 0. I still feature in the Google Index and search results, so I guess my site hasn’t been banned.

Anyway, ever since I dropped to PR 0, I have received considerably smaller number of spam comments. Akismet used to catch a whole lot of comments as spam every day: this number is no more than 3-5 a week now. I also used to get 10-15 every week, which Akismet did not catch. That has gone down to about 1 a week.

What is nice is that traffic to my blog has gone up by 20-30 percent, and the spam has gone down drastically. I guess my page rank going to 0 might be a good thing that happened to me.
