Habitually Good

It’s that time of the year when we file taxes in India. For people like me, it’s a big pain; I have no idea what kind of forms are needed; I don’t know what each form means; I got no clue on how to calculate my taxes. So, as do a lot of people, I decided to get my taxes filed through an accountant.

Now this guy, it seems, didn’t know better either (or at least the person whom they sent to represent the firm didn’t). If it was for him, I would have filed an extra Rs. 24000 of tax. So, what did I do?

Well, first of all go to Income Tax Department’s website and download an appropriate form (I needed to file the ITR-1). The nice thing is that the form comes with a complete detailed instruction on how to fill out each field. All I did was to read and follow the instructions very carefully.

The government doesn’t do that bad a job after all.
