Do it for the “Feel Good” factor
Hmm… so what is the title all about? Well, I am just coming over from a website which I visit at least once every year. This is the website for an organization called CRY – Child Relief and You. CRY is an organization which helps out (enables) a large number of NGOs in India to carry out programs for improving the condition that Indian children find themselves in. Here are some stats from the CRY site:
- 10,000 children die every day
- 50% children do not get any education
- 2 million babies die every year under the age of 1
These stats do not even account for the children who go hungry and do not even get a fraction of their constitutional rights. Anyway, so what was I doing on the site? I was donating of course. Now here is another bit from the site:
- For Less than $20 – we can support 1 Child’s education for 1 year
- For Less than $30 – we can support 1 Child’s education AND health for 1 year
- For Less than $70 – we can support 1 physically/mentally child for 1 year
- For about $600 – we can support a non-formal education center (35-40 kids) for 1 year
- For about $700 – we can support a pre-primary center (35 kids) for 1 year
- For about $320 – we can sponsor a Health Worker for a year
- For about $270 – we can sponsor a Teacher for a year
I think almost anyone who can read this post, can afford to do at least one of the above. So go ahead and do it for the “Feel Good” factor. Won’t it feel good to know that you are responsible for putting one child through school?

this is very correct. other than this, CRY also accepts donations for any amount, you don’t have to specifically donate for a particular programe. you also get tax rebates…
