ClipMarks – Blogging on the Go

I recently stumbled onto www.clipmarks.com (no, not by using StumbleUpon). I find this a great site. It is such an enabler blogging as you are surfing the site. Although add-ins for such functionality have been available forever, but the thing about ClipMarks is the awesome usability it offers in capturing the content that you are reading. It is as if you are clipping the web page you are reading; no, you ARE literally clipping the web page you are reading. It resides as a toolbar in your browser and if you come upon a page you want to clip, you simply click the button and then start clicking the areas on the webpage that you want to click. The result is as shown below (where I am clipping the Outlook to Google Calendar sync tool website: SyncMyCal)

As can be seen, the tool simply shades the areas I have clicked and marks them. Now, when I click the save button, it simply takes all this and puts it on ClipMarks.com as a new clip. Of course, you also add meta-data such as title and tags (and your comments if you want). Once its published it works more or less on the Digg model where readers can bump the clip up or choose not to bump it up.

Here is a link to my clipmarks (hopefully I will be clipping a lot in the future): http://clipmarks.com/clipper/whoisvaibhav/
