Capturing birds on photo
As I do this more and more, it is becoming quite obvious that its not the easiest thing in the world to take bird photographs which look great. On our last trip to the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, my buddy and I ended up wading in cold, mucky, stinky water to get some photographs and even that didn’t get us the bests shots.
Well, I did get some that I liked, and here are 3 of them (click to view larger pictures).
Everyone I show this to thinks that I added the two birds on the sides using Photoshop ir something. However, I did not.
This I am very happy with because this guy was really far away. And I still managed to get a relatively clear shot on a hazy morning.
This guy we got a little unlucky with. There was a lot of scope to get really close. As we were creeping closer, I acted like a complete amateur and made some noise as soon as I felt something slither next to my leg (remember we were wading in water). Of course the bird flew away and the slithering thing turned out to be a dead leaf in the water.
And finally, one that didn’t come out as well and I had to really post process it a lot just to make it recognizable:
That fish was caught about 20 seconds before this picture was taken.

Well done, the first and the second one especially.
Any photos of the area? The trees grass… and all?

Thanks Kartik. Although I like to crop my pictures to the subject, but yes there are some photos of the surrounding area. Here they are: http://picasaweb.google.com/vaibhav.gadodia/SultanpurBirdSanctuary#

Oh, I thought you were still capturing photos of the other kind of ‘birds’ like your college days…
Good job on these…

In case you do, notify me. I like to see them move and fly when you approach them.
