Call of Duty Inspired By Indian Armed Forces?

Of course I am just jesting.

For all I know, it could be the other way around. However, during a recent trip to Ranikhet, I happened to pass by the training camps of the Kumaon Resident, which is one of the fiercest and toughest regiments in the country.

There I managed to take this photo:

imageWhile the sentence on the wall translates roughly to “One Shot One Kill” or literally to “One Bullet One Enemy”, it was the paintings that caught my attention. These are uncannily similar to the icons that represent what you see in the “Call of Duty” and many other games to depict whether you are standing, crouching, or crawling.

Here is a screen grab from “Call of Duty 3” to show what I am talking about. Do you see the little icon in the lower right hand corner of this image. Compare this to the right most painting in the photograph above.

  4. Isn’t Ranikhet a great place? And I crossed that field as well, after trekking down the hill…..saw a bunch of ‘rangruts’ with almost-shaven heads there.
